The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is now official, so if the original Galaxy S5 just seemed a bit too bulky or pricey for you then take a look at its little brother.

The 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display is a scaled down version compared to the 5.1-inch screen featured on the S5 and there is plenty of Samsung features included with the S5 Mini so you get many S5-like experiences on this smaller version.

The handset is IP67 certified so it is dustproof and waterproof in up to a metre of water for up to 30 minutes and the perforated leather-like back cover, debuted on the original S5, also makes an appearance on the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini. The handset will also be released in the same colours so you can get it in charcoal black, white, blue or gold.

The trend of releasing a “mini” version of flagship models has proven popular with mobile users that don’t want to spend too much on the latest phone but also don’t want to lose out on the best features and the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini certainly won’t disappoint in that respect. Pricing is yet to be confirmed but you can expect some good value deals when the phone becomes available.

The phone is being released in Russia first with a worldwide roll out to follow in the coming weeks so if the Samsung Galaxy S5 takes your fancy you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on it.
