Tag Heuer Announces the Connected Android Wear Luxury Smartwatch

Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer has launched their first Android Wear smartwatch during an event in New York and this latest wearable is aimed very much at the luxury market.

The newly released luxury Android smartwatch from Tag Heuer is the Connected and has been made in collaboration with Intel and Google.

 

The watch has a 1.5-inch circular display that is covered with scratch resistant sapphire crystal and has a resolution of 360×360 and can display a choice of watch faces and classic Tag Heuer displays.

 

The Connected has a 1.6GHz dual-core processor on board along with 1GB RAM and 4GB of internal memory and a 410mAh battery. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on board and the smartwatch has multiple sensors including a tilt detection sensor, a gyroscope and microphone as well as a haptic engine.

The Tag Heuer Connected weighs in at 52 grams and measures 46mm wide and 12.8mm thick and is includes a directional wind and weather monitor and it is IP67 certified for dust and water resistance.

 

The screen can be customised with a choice of Tag Heuer designs and you can choose what information is displayed such as weather, calories burned or steps taken.

The Connected from Tag Heuer is an Android Wear watch so you get a choice of over 4,000 apps on the Google Play Store to customise the watch and it is iOS compatible too.

 

The Connected takes design inspiration from the Tag Heuer Carrera watch and there is an option to trade in the smartwatch after two years for a Carrera watch. The Tag Heuer Connected has a $1500 price tag and if you trade it in after two years you will have to pay an extra $1500 for the Carrera.

 

This luxury smartwatch goes on sale across Europe from tomorrow and you can purchase the black band version online with other colour variants currently only offered in stores.
