Star Wars: Jedi Challenges update now lets you have lightsaber duels with friends

Last year, Lenovo teamed up with Disney to bring us the Star Wars: Jedi Challenges augmented reality game. The good things continue with a new update that is rolling out for free. The Star Wars: Jedi Challenges update now lets you duel it out in a lightsaber battle with a friend.

New Versus Mode in Star Wars: Jedi Challenges

The AR game brought to us in conjunction with Lenovo and Disney gives players the chance to practice their lightsaber-wielding skills. You can enjoy a game of Holochess or command troops in ground wars while playing the game. The game has now been updated with a 1-on-1 Lighsaber Versus Mode.

The update now allows you to pit your skills against a friend and see who has the best lightsaber moves. This will mean that both you and your duelling partner will need the full setup to play. This involves buying the full package of a Lenovo Mirage AR headset, a tracking beacon and the lightsaber hilt.

For those that bought the initial setup, these new updates will be a welcome addition to the existing gameplay options.

Jedi Challenges Lightsaber Duel

The new Versus Mode uses a local multiplayer option to allow you to join a friend in a lightsaber duel. It is not quite the free-moving gameplay you may be thinking of, but it is a great addition to the game.

The game will prompt you and the other player with the moves you need to make. So you will be prompted to swing your lighsaber at your opponent and they will be prompted to duck the swing. It may be a choreographed version of a lightsaber duel, but it’s a step forward in the gameplay of Star Wars: Jedi Challenges.

The game does draw you into the action and we can be assured of new improvements as time goes on. This will become the ultimate Star Wars fan wish list item.
