Sony are certainly industry leaders when it comes to producing smartphones with great screens and the 5.2” full HD display on the Xperia Z3 is a prime example. The 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution is complimented by a whole host of innovations that brighten up the experience.

5.2 inch display

IPS technology has been employed to improved the viewing angle so you can now show off your media to friends without the loss of colour and contrast when not stood directly in front of the phone.

The Xperia Z3 also reproduces pixels that are lacking in vibrancy, improves the texture and outline of objects, enhances the colour and contrast and reduces noise. Well, let’s just say it looks really good!

The premium design includes an aluminium frame, hardened corners, highly crafted elements such as the power button and durable tempered glass. The Sony Xperia Z3 is also waterproof (IP68 certified) so you can use it in the rain, swim in fresh water with it or splash it with liquids all day long.

Hardened corners

At just 7.3mm thick the Sony Xperia Z3 is at the cutting edge of slim design and yet a powerful battery has still been crammed in. If you are the type of person who uses their phone for every hour of every day then two days use from one charge is completely possible.

At just 152 grams the Xperia Z3 also houses a 16GB memory (expandable to 128GB with a memory card) and Snapdragon 2.5GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor with 3GB RAM. Each core is asynchronous so you get the power when you need it and save energy when you don’t.

Sony Xperia Z3 features

With Android v4.4 this mobile phone has the usual collection of Google services built-in and has access to Google Play for when you want to download new apps.

The Sony Xperia Z3 is also the only smartphone with PS4 Remote Play. Here you can access your PS4 via your home’s Wi-Fi and use a DUALSHOCK 4 controller to game in any room of the house.

Sony 3D Surround Sound technology with the xLoud Experience ensures that your beats are both loud and distortion free and of course this mobile phone has GPS, Wi-Fi, 4G and NFC built in.

Sony Xperia Z3 camera

The Sony Xperia Z3 camera is really an enticing feature that could seal the deal when looking to buy a new smartphone.

20.7 megapixels camera

The 20.7-megapixels camera has 8x digital zoom with a wide angle lens that is extra large for capturing every piece of light available when taking photographs under low light.

Further features of the camera include a pulsed LED flash , Burst Mode, Superior Auto for automatic scene selection and of course that IP68 certification means you can take photos underwater.

Waterproof IP68 certified

If you are feeling a little bit more creative then you will enjoy using Face In to put your face and reaction into the image you are taking whilst AR Fun allows you to draw on top of what you see in the viewfinder as well as add animations and text.

The main camera can be used to capture 4K (2160 x 3840 pixels) video and this is one step up in quality from full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels). You can then play your recordings back at this quality using a 4K TV or projector.

On the front there is a 2.2MP camera that can be used at 1080p quality for making video calls.

Sony Xperia Z3 verdict

The combination of screen and camera on the Sony Xperia Z3 puts this smartphone on an equal footing with the likes of the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5. The Android OS delivers a flair of Google familiarity so this really is a premium smartphone that you should consider especially if you want to stand out from the crowd.
