Sony Xperia L3 review

The Sony Xperia series is packed with high-quality devices ranging in price. In my Sony Xperia L3 review, I take a look at the more affordable smartphone in this series. It may be a budget device but you still get that same great quality and excellent features that Sony has become known for.

Sony Xperia L3 design

The new trend on smartphone screens has seen the display become longer, giving you a wider view when using the device in landscape mode. This elongated design is optimised for watching movies and video clips or mobile gaming. While this longer screen is great for entertainment it also gives you a longer view of web pages so you don’t need to scroll down to see more text.

The Sony Xperia L3 continues this trend with a 5.7-inch LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is covered with 2D Corning Gorilla Glass and has a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The Sony Xperia L3 weighs in at 156g and measures just 8.9mm. Sony has given the phone a premium feel with a glass front and back with metal sides. The phone is available in Silver, Black or Gold.

Sony Xperia L3 features

The Sony Xperia L3 is an Android smartphone with a 2GHz octa-core processor and 3GB RAM. This will deliver a decent performance whatever the tasks you are doing.

There is a fingerprint sensor for keeping the phone secure and this has been positioned on the side of the phone. The 32GB memory provides a good amount of space for photos and other files but if you need more you can add a microSD card of up to 512GB.

The Sony UI works with the Android 8.1 OS to deliver a sleek and intuitive user experience. There are some Sony apps added and you get the usual Google favourites on board too.

The Sony Xperia L3 has a good battery size of 3,300mAh which should provide a full day or normal use. Sony has added its own Adaptive Charging to protect the battery and prolong its life and effectiveness.

Sony Xperia L3 camera

The days of a single lens camera on the back are slipping away with budget phones being released with multiple lens rear cameras. The Sony Xperia L3 has a dual rear camera which is made up of a 13-megapixel lens for fine detail and a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

Working together these two camera lenses allow you to add artistic touches to images, such as background blurring. Other camera features include 4x digital zoom, Panorama and HDR.

The selfie camera is an 8-megapixel lens which is packed with features to help you capture your best side. The display acts as a flash to illuminate the shot and AI technology will enhance certain features. You can choose to enlarge your eyes, soften skin or brighten up your skin tone to get the shot that you are happy to share across social media.

Although this Xperia model doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the top Xperia phones, you do still get a lot for your money. The quality feel and look of the Sony Xperia L3 backed up with a great user experience and excellent dual camera make this a budget choice that won’t disappoint.
