The actual look of the Samsung Galaxy S9 is not expected to move to far away from the current flagship. The almost bezel-less display is expected to continue as the norm on the next model. Samsung has licensed a new coating for glass, designed to make water bounce off the screen. We could see this on the Galaxy S9, making it even easier to use in the rain.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Features

Samsung and Qualcomm have been rumoured to be working together on a new mobile processor. Rumoured to be the Snapdragon 845, it is expected this more powerful chip will be used in the Samsung Galaxy S9. This is expected to be used in the US version, with the new Exynos being used for the rest of the world’s Galaxy S9 releases.

The new technology being developed by Qualcomm has seen the advanced fingerprint sensors being able to function under thick glass displays. This is expected to move the Galaxy S9 fingerprint sensor under the display.

A rumour about a 3D sensor front camera has many debating that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will include face recognition, similar to the iPhone X Face ID technology.

The camera on the Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to get a bump in features with advanced slow-motion capture and many different capture options. The chances of a dual-lens may be possible however, the main consensus is the Galaxy S9 Plus will get the dual camera with the Galaxy S9 sticking to the usual single set up.

Samsung Galaxy S9 price and release date

There has been no confirmation of the release date however, we can take the Galaxy releases of the last few years to predict when we will see the new flagship launch.

The S8 officially launched in March this year, this was roughly a month later than previous announcements. If Samsung follows the old schedule, the Samsung Galaxy S9 could be announced at the MWC 2018.

There has been a lot of talk about the OLED displays going into production much earlier than usual, this could point to a surprise early launch in January.

The price of the Samsung Galaxy S9 is expected to be flagship-worthy, so expect to pay big money or take a bigger monthly contract for a discounted price.
