Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date and Rumours

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 cementing its place among the very best phones of 2013 we now look to what we can expect from the next top Samsung smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 will be among the most eagerly anticipated phone releases of 2014, so can this next flagship from Samsung dominate in a similar fashion to the S4 – let’s take a look at what me might be getting on the S5.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Specifications

Samsung mobile phones have been known to ignore the metal build of competitors in favour of sturdy plastic in their handsets so could we finally be given a metal chassis on the S5? Samsung love to offer up lots of versions of their flagship smartphone to try and capture as much of the market as possible so we could see a metal and plastic version released to suit all tastes.

Among the many rumours circulating about the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the screen size, with it expected to be around 5.3-inches. This will sit it between the current top phone, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3.

The same quad-core 2.3GHz processor sported by the Note 3 is expected to feature on the S5 along with 3GB RAM, however in a bid to stay competitive with Apple it has been speculated that the Galaxy S5 could be packing a 64-bit processor.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 impressed with its decent 13-megapixel snapper and the rumour mill is abuzz that Samsung may beef up the camera on the S5 to a 16-megapixel lens. A new CMOS image sensor was confirmed by Samsung as the lens they will be using in 2014/15. This latest sensor, dubbed ISOCELL, isolates pixels and minimises crosstalk between them for richer, sharper images.

Operating System
With Android KitKat already rolling out it is a pretty safe bet that the Samsung Galaxy S5 operating system will be KitKat. Samsung will of course add all its own bells and whistles with the TouchWiz UI so you will be seeing the likes of SmartStay, S Health etc on the latest phone.

Samsung Galaxy S5 release date

There has been a number of rumours that Samsung will reveal the S5 at the MWC 2014, although Samsung do like to add more of a special edge to the product release with its own event so we shall have to see if this happens at MWC or not.
