Samsung Galaxy S5 Now Official

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event was one of the most anticipated features of the MWC 2014 and as this is tipped to be one of the best smartphones of 2014 there was much excitement as Samsung revealed its latest flagship.

So what’s new on the S5? With Samsung dominating the Android market with their Galaxy range they need to consistently deliver special things to keep users flocking to them, here we take a look at what makes the Samsung Galaxy S5 so special.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is packing lots of power with a 2.5GHz quad-core processor and 2GB RAM making the phone superfast. The phone is said to be able to handle a 1GB download in 30 seconds (network allowing) so that is some impressive work!

The back cover of the Samsung Galaxy S5 has been improved with the usual plastic one being replaced with a stylish studded jacket and it will be available in black, white, gold and blue.

The battery has also had some pretty impressive enhancements with the ability to deliver up to 10 hours of web browsing or video playback. The battery also has a smart power management system, called Ultra Power Saving mode, which will switch the display to black and white when the battery goes below 10% giving an extra 24 hours of power to receive calls and messages.

Samsung has added a fingerprint scanner for security and there is a Kid mode so you can let your kids play with the phone and only have access to kid-friendly apps.

Water and dust resistant, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is more durable than its predecessor – although it is not like the waterproof Sony Xperia Z1 so no underwater photography please.

Samsung Galaxy S5 camera

The camera on the Galaxy range has always boasted plenty of impressive features and the Samsung Galaxy S5 is no exception. The 16-megapixel snapper has the fastest autofocus on a smartphone with AF fast focus technology.

Some nifty tricks like Selective Focus let you blur backgrounds or other aspects of the photo for a unique shot. The HDR rich tone works in real time, so rather than having to hold your phone still for a few seconds to get the shot the Samsung Galaxy S5 works instantly. This is also the first smartphone to offer the HDR rich tone feature for video capture too so the imaging on this phone is first rate.
