Samsung Galaxy Note II Made Official at IFA Berlin 2012

The Galaxy Note 2 became official at Samsung’s press event at the IFA Berlin 2012 and the launch saw many of the speculated details confirmed.

The latest Note from Samsung has a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen and an Exynos 4 Quad 1.6GHz processor together with 2GB RAM and a 3100 mAh battery. The Note 2 has slimmed down slightly measuring just 9.4mm and there is an 8 megapixel snapper on the back as well as a 1.9*-megapixel camera on the front and Android 4.1 is on board.

As expected the S Pen has received a few tweaks with some nifty new features including Quick Command, a new gesture on the screen that quickly activates your favourite most used apps. Samsung has also done some work on the ergonomics of the S Pen making it longer and thicker so it is more comfortable to hold. Another new feature of the S Pen is called Air View which allows users to hover the pen over content such as an email, video or message and see a preview without actually opening the app.

The Screen Record function will also come in handy to many users as this records everything that happens on the screen so you can see pen markings etc. as you make notes and it is saved as a video file. Whilst flipping through photos you can flip them over to effectively make notes on the back or reminders.

The Note II will ship in 16, 32, and 64GB versions each with a microSD card slot for memory expansion and the handset will be HSP+ and 4G compatible.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II will be available in Europe first from October onwards with the US and everyone else getting availability soon afterwards.

What do you think of the latest Note from Samsung? Have you tried the original Galaxy Note? Would you upgrade to this latest version?
