The design of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha has been the subject of much debate with some intimating that the phone could possibly be built with a metal chassis. This could be the answer to many a Galaxy users prayers as the trend of plastic covers on everything including the flagship Galaxy S5 has seen fans eyeing up full metal body competitor phones with envy.

This may not come to fruition though as one leaked image has shown the usual poly-carbonate cover on the back so we shall have to wait and see on this one.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha Specifications

A recent leak and availability of a pre-order on the Samsung Galaxy Alpha has given us more than a few details when it comes to specifications. Whether the website concerned has all the specs correct will remain to be seen once the handset becomes official so for now this is what we have.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha specs

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha will have a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display and will include an octa-core Exynos 5 processor. The initial speculation about the phone having a 5.2-inch display has gone quiet and due to this putting it up against the current flagship S5 this smaller screen size is more likely as Samsung tend to stick to a flagship release once a year.

The camera is expected to be a 12-megapixel lens with realtime HDR viewing, selective focus and lots of editing options. The front facing camera has a 2.1-megapixel resolution and the handset will include 32GB of on board memory as well as a microSD card slot.

Connection-wise the Samsung Galaxy Alpha should give us 4G, Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC and Android KitKat 4.4.2 is expected to be on board.

The initial thoughts on a release date were rumoured to be in September making this go up against the next iPhone however, more recent information, pegs the launch date on 13th August so we don’t have very long to wait to see if all the speculation amounts to anything.
