Nokia 6 2018 review

The Nokia 6 gets an update in 2018 with improved power and additional features. In my Nokia 6 2018 review I take a look at this smartphone to see what improvements are on offer.

Nokia 6 2018 Design

The overall look of the phone remains the same, however, the screen to body ratio has been improved with slimmer bezels at the top and bottom of the display. The 5.5-inch display is protected with Gorilla glass and the phone is constructed from series 6000 aluminium. This makes the Nokia 6 feel good and solid in the hand, the quality has been improved overall.

The phone is available in black or silver and measuring just 8.1mm, this is a slim smartphone.

Nokia 6 2018 Features

The Nokia 6 gets a fingerprint sensor for 2018, this has become the standard across smartphones so it is not surprise to see one. The sensor is on the back of the phone, the placement feels right for naturally holding the phone and unlocking it.

Android is on board, 7.1 or Nougat, so you get lots of familiar apps including YouTube and Chrome. The phone has an internal memory of 32GB, there is a microSD card slot for adding a further 128GB so storage shouldn’t be an issue.

The bump in power on the 2018 Nokia 6 sees the 2.2GHz octa-core processor added, this coupled with the 4GB RAM makes the Nokia 6 responsive and able to handle multiple or demanding tasks easily.

The 3,000mAh battery delivered a decent amount of usage before needing recharging. The phone has fast charging capability, this boosted the battery from empty to 50% within just 30 minutes.

Nokia 6 2018 camera

The 16-megapixel camera includes Phase Detect Auto Focus for fast focus so you don’t miss the shot. There is a dual tone LED flash, this worked really well for illuminating darker shots.

There is an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies, and one of the best features of this phone is the Dual View Mode. This feature lets you take a photo with the front and rear cameras at the same time, you get both persepctives for the full picture. This also works in video capture mode too, you can capture video and sound from both cameras and view it in a split screen mode.

The improved processor and superb camera features make the new Nokia 6 an excellent smartphone. The must-haves are all on board and the quirky dual view mode for getting the images from both cameras at the same time will appeal to many.
