MWC 2015: What will we see?

The Mobile World Congress is set to take centre stage and grab media attention in March of 2015, so today we take a glimpse into the future to predict the MWC 2015 mobile phone releases.

Samsung Galaxy S6

At the MWC 2014 event we were introduced to the Samsung Galaxy S5 and based on this we would expect to see the Samsung Galaxy S6 make an appearance at the event.

Samsung Galaxy S6 - at the MWC?

What we know about the Samsung Galaxy S6 at the moment sits categorized under rumours and these suggest that a 5.3” QHD Edge Display will head up the visuals while a 20 megapixel camera would be an amateur photographers dream.

We expect to see most of the flagship smartphones released in 2015 to have octa-core processors and the Samsung Galaxy S6 could well have a 4GB RAM. We hope to see a metallic body used and if there isn’t then an exodus of Samsung fans may head over to Apple!

HTC One M9/Hima

The HTC One M9 or HTC Hima should also make a showing at MWC 2015 although it is unlikely to carry this name. A similarly sized 5.2” QHD display is predicted and we also expect HTC to drop the use of its UltraPixel camera technology.

Rumours suggest that a quad-core processor with 3GB RAM will be used and if this is the case then HTC will have fallen behind the pack that are set to release their devices with octa-core processors.

Sony Xperia Z4/Z4 Compact/Z4 Ultra

Sony is expected to deliver a number of devices during MWC 2014 and Barcelona is expected to be the place of the revelation of the Sony Xperia Z4, Z4 Compact and the Z4 Ultra.

Sony Xperia Z3 review

The Sony Xperia Z4 and Z4 Compact are the expected replacements to the Z3 and Z3 Compact with the usual bump up in specs although we expect the same unibody design and of course the water resistant features the Xperia range is known for.

We are also expecting a Z4 Ultra tablet to make an appearance at the event giving Sony an update across the board of their three devices.

Microsoft Lumia

The Microsoft Lumia is expected to make an appearance at MWC and this would be the perfect launchpad for the next flagship so we are expecting big things.

It could be that the Lumia 1030 is heading our way as the follow-up to the Lumia 1020 which is well known for the impressive 41-megapixel PureView camera. Microsoft could surprise us with a Lumia 940 to replace the 930 so we will have to see if they decide to give us multiple devices or just stick with the Microsoft Lumia 1030 as the star of the show.

The smartwatch has been the buzz word of 2014 and the MWC event this year was brimming with wearable tech so we expect the 2015 MWC to give us the next generation of smartwatches.

2015 smartwatch

The success of the Moto 360 lends itself well to a new watch from Motorola so could we see a Moto smartwatch? We certainly hope so!

Android Wear devices are bound to be a plenty at the event with perhaps a few Tizen ones thrown in too. Samsung are sure to offer up a version of the Galaxy Gear fit with perhaps more than one incarnation as they love to be able to give us plenty of choice.
