MWC 2014: What to Expect

 

 

The MWC 2014 is the highly anticipated event where we will see manufacturers show us all they have to offer for the best smartphones of 2014. As with any event like this there have been numerous rumours flying around as to what we will see and here we give you the lowdown on what we hope to get our hands on in Barcelona next week.

Samsung Galaxy S5

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is flying off the shelves at the moment and Samsung will be hoping to continue their fantastic sales momentum with the next in the series, the Samsung Galaxy S5. The buzz around this phone has been incredible and Samsung look to take advantage of the hype with a private event on Monday to launch their next flagship mobile phone. Specifications expected on this latest mobile range from a fingerprint scanner to a 5.3-inch display and a possible 20-megapixel camera.

Sony Xperia Z2

 

The rumour mill is buzzing with the possibility of a peek at the Sony Xperia Z2 at the MWC 2014, which would be a surprising move as the Z1 Compact was only just announced at the CES last month. High-end specifications and the usual waterproof capabilities of the Xperia range are expected to feature on the Sony Xperia Z2, so we can expect some good sales from this handset as Sony is becoming more popular among the smartphone user thanks to the build quality and durability.

 

LG G Pro 2

The LG G Pro 2 is expected to feature heavily on the LG stand at MWC 2014 and this phablet is rumoured to have features such as a fingerprint scanner as seen on the iPhone 5s.

 

Nokia Android

 

With the Nokia smartphone and Microsoft partnership steadily rolling on with a range of Lumia handsets sporting Windows 8, it was a surprise to hear of a Nokia Android phone becoming a possibility. Codenamed “Normandy” the full features of the Nokia Android smartphone are still unknown but the increasing presence of Android in the smartphone world makes this a good move for Nokia.

The updated Windows Phone OS is expected to make its debut at the MWC with Microsoft showing us the new features such as a new digital assistant, increased multitasking and bug fixes.
