The Microsoft Lumia 550 has launched with Windows 10 and it is has been priced to be affordable to all. Windows 10

Here is a break down of what the new Windows 10 OS will offer on the Lumia 550:

Cortana – The personal assist runs in perfect sync with other Windows 10 devices that are owned, so reminders set on a PC will also appear on the Lumia 550. Cortana can set reminders that will be triggered by location as well as make voice searches, give the weather and get traffic updates.
Edge Browser – The Edge Browser replaces Internet Explorer and provides a better experience through a reading mode that removes ads and other distractions from web page articles. Web pages can also be scribbled over and the results can be saved in the reading list or shared.
OneNote – Replacing the text-only NotePad, the OneNote app can perform richer editing tasks such as adding colour, pictures, tables and free-hand drawing.
OneDrive – The Lumia 550 comes with free OneDrive storage so files, photos and videos can be backed up on the web.

A snappy little fellow

The Microsoft Lumia 550 has a good quality 5MP camera and this is married with an LED flash and manual control over the white balance and exposure. The camera can shoot video at 720p high definition and a video light aids the final result.

The freedom to express yourself

The Microsoft Lumia 550 looks pretty good in both black and white but the back case can also be removed from the 9.9mm thick body and replaced with other exchangeable covers, although we do not at this time know what colours will be available.

The 4.7” LCD display (1280 x 720 pixels) has enhanced outdoor readability, while automatic brightness control saves power when indoors. The screen additionally has a wide viewing angle, making it much easier to show photos and videos to friends.

The Microsoft Lumia 550 has a good level of performance for a phone in its pricing bracket. The 1.1GHz quad-core processor can handle everything from video streaming to gaming and there is an 8GB internal memory, onto which new apps can be downloaded from the Windows Store.

The 2100mAh battery keeps the experience alive, offering up to 60 hours of music playback, 10 hours Wi-Fi web browsing or up to 7 hours of video playback. To ensure the best performance, the Glance Screen display notifications without fully activating the screen and the Battery Saver can be used to extend the standby for long periods.

Overall, the Microsoft Lumia 550 is a great buy at less than £90 SIM free or on a choice of contracts at less than £10 per month.
