Huawei Honor 9 Lite Review – world’s first quad lens smartphone

In my Huawei Honor 9 Lite review I take a look at the first smartphone to have four cameras (dual lens rear camera / dual lens front camera).

Huawei Honor 9 Lite Design

The Huawei Honor 9 Lite features a 5.65- inch FullView Display. Although the display is big, the bezels are small making the 5.65-inch display fit into the body size of a standard 5.2-inch one.

The phone has a quality feel in the hand thanks to the glass construction and aluminium frame. The Honor 9 Lite is available in Sapphire Blue, Glacier Grey and Midnight Black.

The smartphone is slim at just 7.6mm thick and weighing in at 149g it’s nice and lightweight.

Huawei Honor 9 Lite features

The elongated display has an 18:9 aspect ratio and extra lines of pixels (2160 compared to 1920). This especially handy when browsing as you can see more of a web page without scrolling down.

The Huawei Honor 9 Lite is powered by the octa-core Kirin 659 2.36GHz processor with 3GB RAM. This technology package delivers a really good performance when multitasking and makes efficient use of the battery power.

The fingerprint sensor can recognise and unlock the phone in just 0.25 seconds. For added security your fingerprint is encrypted and isolated so your biometric information cannot be stolen.

The Huawei Honor 9 Lite has a 32GB memory and a microSD card slot can be used to add a further 256GB.

A great bit of news is that the Honor 9 Lite has Google’s latest Android 8.0 Oreo operating system straight out of the box.

This gives you the latest and most immersive experience, through a range of Google apps and enhancements. AI technology is on board to keep the phone running optimally and keep it up to date with future developments.

The Huawei Honor 9 Lite has a decent 3,000mAh battery. Huawei has included smart battery saving technology, this delivers a full day use from one charge. The battery can give you up to to 13 hours of video playback or up to 86 hours of music playback.

Huawei Honor 9 Lite Camera

The standout feature of this phone is the quad lens camera. You get the durability and superb capture quality of a dual lens on both the front and back of this smartphone.

The 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel front selfie camera includes bokeh for with amazing background blurs. Other smartphones can mimic this through software, but as the Honor 9 Lite has the actual hardware you get much better results. The selfie camera has Panorama Selfie and Gesture Control, Portrait Mode 2.0 and Gender Beauty Mode. The software will determine which beauty effects to apply when and adjust them based on whether you are capturing a male or female.

The rear 13-megapixel and 2-megapixel camera has PDAF fast focus and a Wide Aperture Mode. Wide Aperture Mode lets you refocus photos, after they have been taken giving you lots of post-editing options to improve the shot.

Huawei keeps getting better and better and the Honor 9 Lite takes your photos to the next level. With dual lenses on both cameras, your photos going to stand out whichever side you shoot from.
