Huawei Honor 6X with dual camera to wow the mid range

The Huawei Honor 6X has just been launched in the UK and its dual camera is set to wow the mid-range market. In fact, the specs look pretty good all round, making this a good choice for those who don’t want to spend big money on premium phones like the Huawei P10 or P10 Plus, also out now.

Huawei Honor 6X dual camera

The dual 12MP / 2MP camera lenses give a wide aperture range of f/0.95 to f/16, letting you decide how much focus you want. You can choose the focus after the shot has been taken, enabling you to get professional like bokeh blurred background effects.

The camera has an ultra-fast focus time of just 0.3 seconds, with Phase Detect Auto Focus (PDAF) and a Sony IMX386 sensor. The pixels are big at 1.25µm and this means that photos will have less noise, better colour quality and extra sharpness.

On the opposite side, we find a 8MP selfie camera with a 77 degrees wide angle lens with Prim ISP. This gives you neat little features like self adaptive skin colour detection and auto portrait touch-up. There is also a cool splash function that lets you choose just one colour to show through on a monochrome image.

Huawei Honor 6X display

The 5.5” Full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels) gives you an in-your-face experience, with nice detail at 403 pixels per inch. For use under direct sunlight, the display brightness can be bumped up to 450nit, where just 1nit gives off the light of 1 candle.

In the evening, Eye Comfort Mode reduces eye fatigue by filtering out blue light. The visual experience takes place through durable and scratch resistant glass. The OS is Android 6.0 Marshmallow and while we would have liked to have seen Nougat on board, the EMUI 4.1 user interface gives a fresh look and handy features such as split screen mode.

Kirin 655 processor and fingerprint sensor

The Kirin 655 2.1GHz octa-core processor with 3GB RAM is fast and in fact it so fast that it wouldn’t have been too out of place on a premium-level smartphone. The Kirin processor is paired up with a 32GB internal memory, which can be boosted by inserting an up to 128GB microSD card.

The 3rd generation fingerprint sensor unlocks the Honor 6X in a record 0.3 seconds and can also be used to scroll through photos, answer calls or take a selfie with one touch.

High density battery

Completing the spec sheet is a high density 3,340mAh battery that gives over two days use for the average user or 1.5 days use for heavy users. More specifically, the battery offers up to 70 hours of music playback, 11.5 hours of video playback or up to 8 hours of gaming.
