The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is making a big impression with its powerful battery and big screen and here in our Huawei Ascend Mate 7 review we reveal why this is a smartphone you should consider.

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Design

The striking look of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 draws you immediately to the huge 6-inch FHD In-cell display which is surrounded by a slim bezel and a sleek aluminium body. Overall the phone feels quite lightweight at just 185 grams, not bad considering the seemingly edge-less display and the chassis measures just 7.9mm thick making this phone feel sleek and high quality.

The phone is available in either black or white and on the rear of the phone we find the fingerprint sensor which is placed where your finger would naturally be positioned when using the phone.

Huawei Ascend Mate 7 Features

The large display delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution which is 368 pixels per inch and the in-cell technology makes it a great view from any angle. Under the hood the Mate 7 is packing an 1.8GHz octacore Kirin processor which activates cores as needed for excellent seamless operation as well as making the battery consumption more efficient. There is 2GB RAM on board as well as 16GB of internal memory and Android 4.4 is on board for familiar Google apps.

The fingerprint sensor can read your print through a full 360 degrees and can be used to awaken the phone and protect your data, it can also be configured to protect apps with your fingerprint being the only one able to open up apps that contain certain information. The sensor certainly worked well within each of these capacities and the placement was natural for the index finger when you picked up the phone so it feels quite natural to use.

Huawei as added the EMUI 3.0 user interface over the Android 4.4 OS and with this comes the Huawei Music app for organising your favourite tracks, creating playlists or enjoying random playback across your music files. A number of the apps are optimised to recognise the orientation of the phone, such as in the calendar so when the phone is in landscape mode even more information can be viewed on the screen.

As this is an Android phone you get all the usual familiar apps from Google such as Gmail, YouTube and Chrome and the Play Store is a tap away for a world of choice when it comes to adding new apps to the smartphone.

huawei ascend mate 7 battery saver

The Mate 7 is packing a huge 4,100mAh battery so you get plenty of usage between charges and Power Saving will shut down power hungry features to give you the most juice from the power pack until you can get to a charger.

Huawei Mate 7 Camera

The 13-megapixel camera uses the Sony 4th generation lens and captures great photos and video at 1080p. There are lots of filter options to add effects and there are various shooting modes such as Panorama and Beauty mode so you can find the right one to suit your subject.

The front facing camera is a 5-megapixel wide angle lens and it worked well for snapping selfies and was a decent enough resolution for video chatting over Skype.

The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 is a phablet that looks great and performs well, the overall design and build feel like quality smartphone and when using the many features on board the processor handles everything easily. This is a great phone for anyone that wants a big screen and a battery that can cope with the bigger display, it is fantastic to use and if you have been debating whether to try a phablet this one is one to go for.
