HTC Edge – The First Quad-Core Phone?

With dual-core processors becoming commonplace in new smartphones it was only a matter of time before the industry took the next step and whispers of quad-core handsets have been buzzing around for a while now. It seems HTC will be one of the first to launch a phone with this super power under the bonnet.

The HTC Edge will apparently feature the Tegra 3 quad-core processor, providing 1.5GHz on each core. The handset will sport a monster 4.7-inch display with HD resolution and an 8-megapixel camera with 1080p HD video capture. Other specs leaked include a 32GB built-in memory, Android 4.0 OS and the latest HTC Sense UI.

No official word has been given by HTC but the handset is expected for release early next year, so we will have to wait and see what kind of mobile experience this new processor can deliver.
