Honor 20 Lite review

The Honor 20 range delivers an amazing array of features and in my Honor 20 Lite review, I take a look at the more affordable triple lens smartphone.

Honor 20 Lite design

The front of the phone is dominated by the superb 6.21-inch FHD+ screen. A small dewdrop notch for the selfie camera means you get a lot of screen to enjoy. With a 90% screen-to-body ratio, entertainment is simply amazing. The resolution of the screen is 2340 x 1080 pixels and Eye Comfort mode will help reduce eye strain.

The Honor 20 Lite is available in Phantom Red, Magic Night or Phantom Blue. The colour has been applied using a 3D gradient so it moves as it catches the light. The phone weighs in at 164g and measures just 7.95mm thick.

Honor 20 Lite features

The phone has a powerful Kirin 710 2.2GHz octa-core processor and 4GB RAM. With such a powerful setup the Honor 20 Lite handles any tasks with ease and gaming is lag-free. 128GB of internal memory is included and if you need more room the phone works with memory cards of up to 512GB.

Smart Face Unlock is included on the Honor 20 Lite and this advanced face recognition technology can recognise you even if your eyes are closed. Further security is added with a fingerprint sensor on the back.

The Honor 20 Lite is an Android 9 smartphone and this feature is further enhanced by the EMUI 9 interface. Some of the key features include:

  • AI Calorie Counting – snap a photo of your meal for calorie and nutritional information
  • AI Translation – quickly translate signs, menus and other text
  • AI Scan & Shop – if you see something you like, simply take a photo and the phone will find and compare prices online

Gamers will love this phone as the GPU Turbo 2.0 delivers incredible speeds and graphics quality to any gaming action. All that gaming is easily handled by the big 3,400mAh battery, you can easily use the phone all day. When you do need to recharge, the Honor 20 Lite supports fast charging and includes a 10W charger.

Honor 20 Lite camera

One of the top features of this phone is the triple-lens rear camera, it is made up of:

  • 24-megapixel AI lens
  • 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera
  • 2-megapixel depth sensor

The main AI camera can recognise up to 500 different scenarios across 22 categories. The settings are adjusted automatically to suit the shot and make sure you get amazing photo and video results every time. Slow Motion video can be captured at 480 frames per second and the Super Night Shot is one of the best night capture features I have seen.

Selfie fans will be impressed with the many features of the front-facing 32-megapixel camera. AI provides different backlighting options for a professional photoshoot look.

The AI Beautification options are some of the most extensive on the market and include:

  • Acne removal
  • Skin tone adjustment
  • Eye bags removal
  • Teeth whitening
  • Oily glare removal

Verdict:

If you don’t want to lay out for the cost for a flagship, the Honor 20 Lite is a great compromise. You get many of the amazing features that are included in the more expensive model and the camera technology is simply amazing. The phone has a premium feel and look and the fantastic display is great for all entertainment.
