BlackBerry Android Phones Coming Soon

BlackBerry has been a little quiet on the phone release side of late, with failing sales figures of previous years and a bid to re-establish themselves in the mobile market the company has been strategising and playing their cards close to their chest regarding their future plans.

The usual BB OS offerings have been coming through but at a very slow pace with just the BlackBerry Passport being one of the more standout ones.

It now looks like RIM could be taking a new tact with their smartphones by offering an Android option to fans of the BlackBerry brand.

So far all we have is rumours but it looks like a BlackBerry Android smartphone is in the offing, code named Prague the specifications that have been leaked so far look like it will be a budget offering.

BlackBerry fans hoping for an Android flagship from the Canadian manufacturer will have to wait a little longer it seems.

The rumours suggest that the phone will have a similar design to the BlackBerry Z3 which was released in 2014 and Android KitKat is the likeliest version to be on board. The leaks and speculation have been limited so far with just a few hints of what to expect so we shall have to wait and see for the full spec sheet. One speculation is that it is a basic model to give BlackBerry a presence in emerging markets so it may not even land in the UK.

BlackBerry Venice Specifications

The BlackBerry Venice is another rumoured Android device to be coming from BlackBerry although this one looks to be packing a more powerful punch than the Prague.

The phone is expected to be packing a large 5.4-inch QHD display and a powerful hexacore processor along with Android Lollipop. The BlackBerry Venice has not been gaining as much momentum as the Prague on the rumour mill but it is expected to arrive in Western markets so we should be seeing it arrive on British shores.

The official announcements on these handsets has yet to come from BlackBerry themselves so we could see a few tweaks on specifications or a whole new Android range from RIM.
