BlackBerry 10 to Launch January 2013

BlackBerry held their Jam developers conference event this week and as the manufacturer has had a rocky time of it these last few years’ onlookers were keen to see what they were going to do to put themselves back in the game.

RIM used the event to showcase their latest operating system, BlackBerry 10, with new features such as BlackBerry hub where you can find all of your emails and social networking activities in one place. Also on show was the BlackBerry App World as well as new features allowing you to split your work and personal apps and messages.

Vice President of developer relations, Alec Saunders, hinted at a 21st January launch date and stated that if developers got their apps in before launch they would receive a limited edition BlackBerry 10 device.

RIM has denied this launch date but leaked information prior to this also hints at a January 2013 date so we can be sure it will be around this time. Also at this time we should be seeing the first BlackBerry 10 handsets, codenamed the L-Series and N-Series.

So it looks like we will get to see how BlackBerry will move forward with their latest handsets and OS next year, will it be enough to overcome their previous poor performance?
