Apple Apologises for Map Issues, Suggests you try the competition

After intense backlash over the Maps app on the latest iOS6, Apple CEO Tim Cook has issued an apology on the company’s website.

With so many complaints received and the slating the app has received it’s perhaps not a surprise that Apple would respond, but what is surprising is that the letter recommends users try other providers whilst Apple try and fix the issues.

The statement said “At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.”

“While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.”

So those who have purchased an iPhone 5 can try out the competition for their maps service, and after using an alternative app are users likely to switch back when the issues are fixed on the Apple Maps app?
