App of the Week – Barclays Football.

This free app from Barclays, title sponsor of the Premier League since 2001, is bursting with football content and is a must have for any footy fan.

Match text commentary and scores, video content, match ticket competitions and an Augmented Reality stadium finder are just some of the great features of this app.

The Info Zone is bursting with stats and facts about your favourite team so you can study up on all the information before each match. Team and player specific stats are listed including possession, shots and goals as well as live text Barclays Premier League match day commentary.

The Social feature of the app brings together Augmented Reality views of each of the Barclays Premier League grounds and amenities nearby such as train stations, shops or Barclay’s cash machines.

You can chat with friends on Facebook via the app and you can see visuals of the Barclays Premier League chat that is trending on Twitter during the match.

The Teams tab takes you to in-depth information about each team in the league with player statistics such as how many goals have been scored during injury time, shots on target, most goals and much more and you can tailor it to show your favourite team.

There is a Competitions tab that allows you to play the Ticket Office game where you will get a chance to win Barclays Premier League tickets every 90 minutes.

Mobilesplease App Rating:

5 out of 5

Overall the app design is simple and clean looking, the interface is great and there is tons of information with plenty of ways to tailor the app so you get the information you want. The competition and social elements with handy information on amenities nearby the stadiums is a nice touch and there is a news tab for the latest stories appearing in the papers. The app is available on Google Play and the iStore so both Android and Apple users can get their footy fix and it’s free so we give it a resounding 5 out of 5 stars.
