Acer Predator 6, a 10-core smartphone for gamers

The mobile phone has taken the place of many individual gadgets over the years and although you may not be ready to get rid of your home console in place of your smartphone, mobile gaming is about to get a whole lot better.

Acer has been busy working away on a new phone that is aimed at those who love gaming and here we take a closer look at the Acer Predator 6, a 10-core smartphone made for gamers.

Acer Predator 6 Design

The Acer Predator 6 Design is a striking shell with curves and four slashes of colour at the corners to indicate the speakers on board. This overall design gives the phone more of a game device look taking it away from the standard smartphone look.

The front is dominated by the huge 6-inch display which is hugged by the four speakers so you get immersed into the mobile gaming world with great graphics and rich audio.

Acer Predator Features

With a focus on gaming you would expect some powerful stuff on board the Acer Predator 6 and you would be right. The huge 6-inch display offers up lots of gaming space and under the hood we find 4GB RAM and a decacore processor, that’s 10 cores.

The Helio X20 Processor is the first Tri-Cluster CPU architecture chip used on a smartphone. The setup of the chip divides the cores into three clusters for advanced efficiency when handling tasks providing even better performance and battery life which is essential when it comes to a good mobile gaming experience.

The chip uses the ARM Mali GPU which offers a display refresh rate accelerated to 120 frames per second. The handset is equipped with a haptic feedback system similar to your gaming controller giving the gaming pedigree even more strength. This combined with the Predator MediaMaster feature that allows you to switch to game mode for increased colour and contrast on the screen and increased radius of surround sound certainly backs up Acer’s claim that this is aimed at “serious gamers”.

The Acer Predator 6 is also a smartphone so you get all the best features you would expect from a smartphone including 4G, Wi-Fi GPS and Android on board.

Acer has added some of their own features which can be seen on both this Predator smartphone and the Predator 8 tablet. These include Predator Quadio which utilises the four forward facing speakers to create virtual surround sound and Predator Precision Plus with smaller touch sensors for greater accuracy.

The camera has a resolution of 21-megapixels so you can capture fantastic quality images and record HD video clips.
