Which phones will get Windows 10 Mobile first?

Windows 10 is currently rolling its way out across the world with an automatic update to your PC but what about Windows 10 Mobile? Here we take a look at which phones will get Windows 10 Mobile first and when you can expect it.

Windows 10 Mobile Release Date

All we know for sure is that the Windows 10 Mobile update will become available later this year with many expecting to be seeing it in November.

Microsoft has now confirmed which handsets will be getting the update first and it comes as no surprise that the range to beat everyone else to it is Windows mobile phones made my Microsoft themselves. The update is pegged for the Microsoft Lumia 430, Lumia 435 and the Lumia 532,535 and 540. The Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL are also on the upgrade list as well as the Lumia 735, 830 and Lumia 930.

Non-Microsoft handsets have not been mentioned yet so if you do own a different Windows phone to the ones listed then you will have to wait a little longer until Microsoft roll out the next phase of updates.

Lumia Denim Update

For Lumia users to get the latest Windows Mobile 10 platform the Lumia Denim update will need to be installed. For those who can’t wait for the update there is the opportunity to try out a preview of Windows Mobile 10. To get Windows 10 Mobile you will need to have the Windows Insider app, a compatible device and a Microsoft account – find out if you can get Windows 10 Mobile Preview here.

So far Windows 10 for the PC has been generally well received with many of the changes being welcomed by users but as with any new system roll out there are sometimes teething problems and these should be rectified with updates over the coming months. With this in mind there are a number of users who are tempted to wait for the Windows 10 Mobile system to prove itself before upgrading to it so we shall have to wait and see how Windows fans take to the latest mobile OS from Microsoft.
