Sony was expected to deliver some pretty impressive stuff with their latest flagship and now it has been made official they have not skimped on the new and tempting technology. After some leaks and rumours we can now see what will really be landing in stores as the Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 premium go official.
Sony Xperia Z5
The expected popular one of the bunch is the Sony Xperia Z5, following on from the popular Xperia Z4, and Sony has packed lots of new things in to get excited about.
The sleek lines and familiar design of the Xperia range is still present however the Sony Xperia Z5 now has a metal frame and frosted glass back.
The 5.2-inch display delivers impressive detail and clarity and includes the Sony Triluminos technology and the power button now also doubles as a fingerprint scanner for added security.
Packed inside the Sony Xperia Z5 is some impressive hardware that will make this a great performing smartphone with 3GB RAM, an Octacore processor and 32GB of on board memory. There is also a microSD card slot so if you love having all your music and photos right in your pocket you can add more space easily.
The camera has been amped up to a 23-megapixel lens which is packed to the rafters with the best Sony digital camera technology such as the Hybrid autofocus which will focus in on your subject much quicker so you won’t miss the perfect shot.
The front facing selfie camera has a wide angle lens so you can get more into each shot and there is a 2900mAh battery on board.
As with the previous Xperia smartphone models this phone can handle some water and is dustproof with an IP68 certification.
Sony Xperia Z5 Compact
For those that prefer smaller smartphones Sony has produced the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact giving you a good powerful package in a more compact form.
The same octacore processor is on board, however the RAM has been reduced to 2GB on this small version but this should still deliver a great performance with the rest of the specs matching that of its big brother.
You get the same camera package so you can capture fantastic shots with the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and the battery has been scaled down to fit the smaller dimensions with a 2700mAh powerpack on board.
Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
The Xperia Z5 Premium has been rammed up a little for anyone that wants to go that bit further with their smartphone choice and have something that will incite envy among your friends.
The design has been enhanced with a stainless steel and reflective chrome finish that gives this phone a striking design whichever way you look at it.
The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is the first smartphone to have a 4K display, this delivers an incredible pixel density – although this has been criticised as too much for the human eye to see and only really comes into play on big displays such as TV sets. However for the gloating factor many will love the fact they get a smartphone first so Sony could be onto something there.
The rest of the specifications remain the same as the Sony Xperia Z5 however there is a bigger battery pack on board to handle the high-resolution display.
Sony Xperia Z5 release date
Now that the handsets are official we can expect them to appear in stores very soon with the Sony Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact expected in October while the Sony Xperia Premium will make a fashionably late arrival in November.
