Sony Xperia XA2 review

The Sony Xperia XA2 has the distinctive style that Sony brings to the smartphone market and the high-quality technology you expect from such an established manufacturer. In my Sony Xperia XA2 review I take a look at the newest addition to the XA series.

Sony Xperia XA2 build

The solid feel and high-quality construction of the Sony Xperia XA2 give you the first hint at the good stuff going on with this smartphone. The squared off shape makes it stand out from the usually curved devices from other manufacturers. The display has minimal bezels on the side and the top and bottom body ratios have been decreased compared to the predecessor, giving more screen on a device of the same size.

The phone is made of anodised aluminium and the 5.2-inch display is protected with extra tough Corning Gorilla glass.

The Xperia XA2 is going to be on offer in pink, silver, blue and black and weighs in at 171g.

Sony Xperia XA2 Features

The display is impressive from any viewing angle and Image Enhance Technology delivers rich, vibrant colours. This technology also makes the screen very bright, superb for using outdoors.

Under the hood there is a 2.2GHz octa-core processor and 3GB RAM, this translates into a responsive and slick performance when flipping between apps.

Sony has opted for a back-mounted fingerprint sensor, this is the way most smartphone makers are going now.It does make the positioning of the sensor feel more natural and easier to unlock by simply picking it up.

Android 8.0, the latest offering from Google is on board and it makes for a great user experience. There are thousands of apps to download and you get new features like multi-window display straight out of the box.

Sony has always been known to add something a little special to the audio package on their phones, the Xperia XA2 is no exception. Clear Bass, Clear Audio+ and Smart Amplifier will make the sound quality on this smartphone among the best out there.

The Xperia XA2 gets a big battery boost with the 3,000mAh power pack, this works really well to deliver a decent amount of usage before you need to plug in and charge. Smart charging will keep the battery in good condition and the phone is compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge. (Quick Charge charger not included).

Sony Xperia XA2 Camera features

The Sony camera expertise packed into the Xperia XA2 makes for some amazing photo and video quality. The camera has 4k video recording with SteadyShot to reduce shaking and you can capture slow-motion video. There are lots of different shooting modes and filters so you can choose according to your subject.

The selfie camera features a wide-angle lens that can deliver a super wide selfie. The 8-megapixel lens can capture more of the surrounding landscape as you take your shot. The camera also uses gesture control, you can show the camera your palm and it will take a photo.

Verdict:

The Sony Xperia XA2 delivers quality on every level and the enhanced wide angle lens on the front will make this a firm favourite with selfie fans.
