Samsung has seen a year of ups and downs with the success of the Galaxy S7 and the, ahem, issues with the Note 7 and now it looks like they could be taking measures to try and win back fans. The latest rumour shows that the Galaxy S8 will have a bigger display to tempt Note fans.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Variants
We expect to see the usual two models of the Samsung Galaxy S8 released to follow on from previous launches, however a new report out of South Korea seems to indicate the size of the screens on these handsets will be increased.
The rumour mill has been intimating that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Edge will be sporting a 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch display respectively, this new report shows this will not be the case.
Samsung Galaxy S8 for Note users
The report states that Samsung will hope to bridge the gap between the Galaxy S series users and Note fans by making the S series bigger. The newly speculated screen sizes of the handsets is expected to be 5.7-inch and 6.2-inch variants which could win over the Note users that had to return their handsets. The S8 smartphones are expected to retain the same overall size, even with the bigger screen, thanks to a minimal almost bezel-less design.
The report also states that the larger of the models will be called the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, which could be the one specifically targeted at Note users.
Samsung Galaxy S8 with S Pen
One of the main features of the Note that users enjoyed was the S Pen which was improved with every new release in the Note series. So if Samsung want to truly bring S8 users and Note admirers together could they give the S8 Plus an S Pen? The manufacturer could stick with the two variants of the S8 with the S8 Plus offering the bigger screen and maybe opt for an S Pen version called the Samsung Galaxy S8 Pro.
Dropping the Note name from the next launch of handsets could go some way to helping consumers forget about the disaster with this years release but can these users be tempted over with a phone by a different name? We shall have to wait and see how it plays out although it is certain Samsung hopes to put this years Note problems to bed and move on.
