The invites have been sent out and while they don’t specifically mention the Note 9, the “Do bigger things” strap line and outline of a phone with a stylus are pretty big hints for what the event is about.

The Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event will take place on August 23rd in New York when we will get to see what Samsung has done to their latest Note device.

Galaxy Note 8 Features

Following on from the Galaxy Note 7 fires and product recall, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has some serious work to do to give people faith in the range again. The safety of the product will no doubt be a point of discussion at the event so we shall see how Samsung have fixed these issues.

The new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to sport a much bigger screen, a 6.4-inch display in place of the 5.7-inch one on previous models. The overall size of the device will be smaller than prior Notes as the bezel-less display takes up the extra display room.

A leaked image from Ice Universe has given us a glimpse of what the Note 8 might actually look like.

The design is expected to be similar yo that of the Galaxy S8 Plus with a glass and metal construction although the camera finish on the back is still under debate. Some images have shown a significant camera bump but this could be minimised by the time we see the refined and finished look.

The new Exynos 8895 processor is expected to make an appearance, a rumour that was confirmed by Samsung themselves in a tweet showing the chip on a handset that looked very Note-like.

There is a rumour of a dual-camera set up on the back of the Galaxy Note 8 as well as a pressure sensitive display that will launch different menus dependent on the pressure applied.

The camera package may consist of a 12-megapixel wide-angle and 13-megapixel telephoto lens configuration that combines for 3x optical zoom. The front-facing camera will see a bump up to an 8-megapixel resolution and selfie autofocus.

The battery will be a sensitive subject to cover during the event as the Note 7 failures were attributed to two different battery failures. We expect the battery capacity on the new Note 8 to be around 3,500mAh to be consistent with the current models on offer. Samsung could opt for a bigger capacity power pack but safety will be a big concern and they may stick to a smaller capacity to reassure users.

Android Nougat will be on board and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be available in two memory variants of 64GB and 128GB.

So far all we have is lots of speculation but all will be revealed on the 23rd August so we shall see how Samsung handle this release and how it is received in relation to the huge problems with the previous model.
