The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is Samsung’s mid-priced smartphone, that brings with it, a series of premium features that make this phone very desirable.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is first and foremost designed to be practical. The phone has been tested to IP68 standards for dust and water resistance. In fact, the phone can be submerged to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes.

 

The back face of the phone is made from 3D Glass, which is curved and highly resistant, In the hand, this Samsung phone feels comfortable and this is partly due to the fact that the camera module does not protrude outwards.

 

The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 is available in the UK now in Gold Sand, Black Sky, Peach Cloud or Blue Mist. The phone is 7.9mm thick and weighs in at 159g.

The 5.2” Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) Super AMOLED display is, like on all Samsung phones, extremely bright and vivid. The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 has an Always On Display and this can be used to show notifications, the time and date and your calendar.

The fingerprint sensor secures the phone and can be used to access the Secure Folder. The Secure Folder safeguards selected apps and private data, keeping them separate from the regular content on the device.

 

This Samsung smartphone is powered by the Android Marshmallow operating system and an octa-core 1.9GHz processor with 3GB RAM. Of the 32GB internal memory, 23.1GB is free to the user. While this will be plenty of storage space for most, there is a microSD card slot that accepts cards with a value of up to 256GB.

 

The 3,000mAh battery has fast charging capabilities through its USB Type-C connector. The capacity of the battery is high, compared to other phones, offering up to 18 hours of internet browsing or up to 19 hours of video playback. Music fans can enjoy listening to audio for up to 78 hours with the Always On Display set to off, or up to 53 hours with the Always On Display active.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 has a main 16MP camera that has a fast and accurate auto focus. Instant camera filters can be used to change the feel of a photo and includes Deep, Cream, Cosy, Classic and Food, along with many others. The camera can also shoot video at a quality of Full HD.

 

Food Mode

 

Surprisingly, there is a 16MP selfie camera, making this phone one of the most powerful for portrait photography. The bright display doubles as a flash, for illuminating the scene with natural looking light.
