Nokia event teaser for MWC shows a punch hole display

Nokia has been hinting that they would be attending the MWC and now it looks to be confirmed. A new Nokia event teaser for MWC 2019 appears to show a punch hole display phone.

Nokia MWC launch event

Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas, confirmed the Nokia event in a tweet. The event will be happening on February 24th with a live stream for those wanting to tune in.

After the initial revelation through Twitter, a further leak of the event has been leaked in some teaser images. The images confirm the event date and use the hashtag #coolnewstuff.

From the first photo, it looks like we are getting the first official glimpse of the Nokia 9. This latest flagship from Nokia has been the subject of much speculation including the rumour of a five-lens camera. This teaser seems to confirm that with a hint of five circles, although one of these could be the flash so we will have to wait and see.

Another teaser also looks to be pointing to a new device which could be launched at the same time as the Nokia 9. Seemingly showing the front of a phone, the images appear to have a punch hole camera on the front. This could be the front of the Nokia 9 but all previous leaks and image renders appear to show a top bezel for the camera on that phone.

Could this be a new phone from Nokia? Well, we don’t know for sure and we will have to wait for the official launch event to get full confirmation on everything. It will be interesting to see what Nokia can deliver with the Nokia 9. They have some big competition and will need to give people something extra special to attract them away from the most popular smartphones of 2019.
