The IFA 2015 event in Berlin in September is expected to bring some big things to the smartphone and wearable technology world and with so much to be revealed what should you look out for? Here we take a look at the biggest releases that will make a debut at the event so you won’t miss anything to do with the IFA 2015 and will know what to expect.
Moto X (2015)
The Moto X is reincarnated each year by Motorola and as last year’s model was unveiled at the previous IFA event then it seems only natural that IFA 2015 will be the launchpad for the Moto X 2015.
This handset from Motorola has gained some fans over the years and with each new model the company continues to impress. The 2015 Moto X will offer a 5.2-inch QHD display, an octacore processor and 4GB RAM. That stacks up to make a pretty impressive phone and we can expect to see the great styling from Motorola as well as a palatable price tag.
Sony Xperia Z4 Compact
The Sony smartphone has seen an impressive revolution with the Xperia range delivering impressive specifications, great design and top features. The Xperia Z4, or the Z3+ as we call it, has arrived in the UK so we should expect to see the little brother to this smartphone announced at IFA this year.
Even though this is a compact version, Sony still tend to keep the top features of the flagship phone within their smaller offering so we should expect to see a good phone. So far the rumours are hinting towards a 4.7-inch display with an octacore processor and 3GB RAM. The 20.7-megapixel camera is expected to stay on the compact model along with a 5-megapixel front facing lens making for a fantastic overall package on this compact phone.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5
The smartphone world was slightly taken aback when Samsung brought us the Note with a big screen and a stylus – what were they thinking? Well it seemed that Samsung knew where the smartphone market was going next and the trend of bigger screens has become the norm among flagship models even if the stylus hasn’t.
The Galaxy Note 5 is expected to take things to pretty impressive heights with a powerful processor (more than 8 cores?) a sizable 4GB RAM and a number of camera upgrades and Samsung added features.
The wearable technology market has exploded within the last couple of years and the IFA event is expected to be the place to see a huge range of new wearables.
Samsung will be showcasing their latest Galaxy Gear S2 smartwatch and LG is likely to give us the follow up to the Urbane at the event. An update to the popular Moto 360 as well as a Sony Smartwatch are also expected to make an appearance giving smartwatch fans plenty to look forward to.
Virtual Reality Headsets
VR headsets have been the subject of much speculation and information leaks over the last year and with many prototypes in the pipeline it’s expected we will see a number of new headsets at the IFA this year.
Oculus Rift and the HTC Vine are the likeliest candidates for a launch event along with plenty of new tantalising software, however we could see some other manufacturers delivering their own VR headsets too so there is lots to get excited about.
