The Huawei smartphone range has seen a new addition in the form of the P8 and here we take a look at the latest offering from this manufacturer in our Huawei P8 Review.
Huawei P8 Build
Huawei is been trying to gain a foothold in the UK smartphone market by offering high-end phones at more affordable prices than its competitors and while this brand may not be your first choice this latest smartphone may have you reconsidering it.
The premium design of the phone is achieved by a completely flat and smooth configuration with a unibody aluminium chassis and steel back cover with a seamless camera lens – no bumps here!
The chassis has a Nano coating to protect it from spills and the handset is available in a choice of colours: Mystic Champagne, Titanium Grey, Carbo Black and Prestige Gold.
Huawei P8 Specifications
The manufacturer has opted for top-spec all the way on this phone with a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 touchscreen display and a body measuring just 6.4mm. Within the slim dimensions Huawei has packed a powerful Kirin 930 2GHz 64-bit processor and 3GB RAM as well as 16GB of on board memory.
Android Lollipop is on board so you get a ton of familiar apps and the OS works with the EMUI 3.1 for customisable themes and widgets. The phone can support dual 4G SIMs and there is a microSD card slot for cards of up to 128GB so there can be plenty of space for apps, music and photos.
There are a number of features on the Huawei P8 that you will find useful such as the voice prompt to locate the phone when you misplace it and Rich-touch allowing you to double-tap your knuckle on the screen for a screenshot or draw a circle over content you want to capture.
The P8 will automatically detect and connect to the strongest Wi-Fi signal and GPS and Bluetooth are on board and with 4G connectivity you can enjoy superfast browsing when in a coverage area.
The battery delivers a good usage time thanks to the efficient processor making the most of the available power to give you 1 days heavy usage.
Huawei P8 Camera
The camera on the Huawei P8 is one of the standout features of this smartphone with tons new and innovative technology and enhancements. This is the first ever 4 colour (RGBW) 13-megapixel rear camera on a smartphone and what this delivers is a 32% enhanced brightness and 78% less colour noise in low light situations giving you the very best shot possible out-performing some of the best smartphones on the market today.
Other camera features include Light Painting Mode giving you the ability to sketch light tracks using a small torch or it can be used to capture effects from anything that emits light. Beauty Mode will highlight your best features and the handset can be set to recognise your face and apply the effect each time you are in the shot.
The Time Lapse effect creates interesting videos clips and with Director Mode you can control up to three other Android phones to get your shot from different angles.
The colour flash gives off both warm and white light for natural lighting and the front facing camera is an impressive 8-megapixel lens so you get great selfies or great quality video chats.
This phone from Huawei is impressive to behold and the many features of the camera on this smartphone are bound to please selfie and mobile photo fans. The Huawei P8 is a great choice if you are looking for an alternative to Apple or Samsung but don’t want to compromise on features.
