Huawei P Smart launches on Vodafone

The Huawei P Smart has come to the UK and Vodafone has this Huawei phone as an exclusive, until February 28th. You can pick the phone up from £17.99 per month on contract or for £229 on Pay as You Go.

The main highlight of the P Smart is its FullView display and dual camera.

Huawei P Smart design

The Huawei P Smart uses premium build materials and these include 2.5D glass for the front and aluminium for the body. The phone looks really sleek and it boasts a FullView display that goes right up to the edges and has only a little body above and below it.

The display has the new 18:9 layout, which is longer than a traditional display. The Full HD+ resolution gives you more rows of pixels. This allows you to see more of a website or your social feed, before you need to scroll down. Some apps and games are designed for this resolution and those that aren’t are automatically adjusted to fill the display.

Huawei P Smart camera

The dual camera on the Huawei P Smart has 13MP and 2MP lenses. This allows you to get hardware driven bokeh effects and there are sixteen levels of background blur. On the front, there is a 8MP selfie camera and this lets you capture software driven bokeh effects in Portrait Mode.

The selfie camera has a new beauty algorithm that can detect gender and make gender specific adjustments and enhancements to improve the result. You can also use a hand gesture or the fingerprint sensor to activate the shutter.

Huawei P Smart features

The Huawei P Smart uses Google’s Android Oreo operating system and Huawei has tweaked this with their EMUI 8.0 user interface. This delivers a rich experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence optimising the experience.

A feature that seems pretty useful, is one touch split screen. If you are playing game, for example, and you get a video call, then with one touch you can enter split screen mode and take the call while you continue playing the game.

Other features include a special one-handed mode and a co-processor that uses little power while undertaking background tasks, such as counting your steps, measuring distance or using GPS.

The fingerprint sensor is located on the back of the Huawei P Smart and in addition to securing the phone, it can be used for other tasks. These include phone navigation, picture browsing, taking a photo, pulling down the notifications bar and canceling your morning alarm.

The energy efficient processor works with the 3,000mAh battery and power saving technology to ensure you get a good day’s use. If you are careful, your might even get two day’s use from the phone.

Huawei P Smart verdict

The Huawei P Smart gives you an opportunity to get many new and innovative features without breaking the bank. The phone gives a really solid experience and scores strongly for its display, design, camera, battery and user interface.
