The Huawei Nova is crafted from aviation strength aluminium and magnesium alloy which has been made using diamond cutting to give it multiple curves and an overall high-end look and feel. The speaker grill is etched into the metal body at the bottom and measuring just 7.1mm thick this is a thin and sleek smartphone.

Huawei Nova Features

The Huawei Nova has a 5-inch IPS Full HD display which performs well thanks to wide viewing angles and the performance for brightness is on a par with other flagship models on the market.

huawei nova fingerprint sensor

With security of mobile devices becoming a priority for many users Huawei has included a fingerprint sensor for peace of mind. The sensor can be used to unlock the phone but it also works to access the Safe feature where sensitive documents can be kept and only accessed with the authorised fingerprint. The sensor also works with payments and it can be used for snapping photos and to stop the alarm clock.

Android Marshmallow is on board and works with the Emotion UI for a great user experience with little tweaks from Huawei that are quite fun and useful. Knocking on the screen twice using two knuckles will activate the Screen recorder so you can capture and share game footage and more or you can draw an “S” on the screen with your knuckle to capture scrolling screen shots.

The camera on this smartphone delivered some great photos even in low light and this is thanks to the 12-megapixel lens having a large 1.25μm pixel size and a f/2.2 wide aperture for capturing more of the available light. Rapid Phase Detect Auto Focus and CAF contrast focusing compares clarity across two images to create a more detailed image capture on each shot.

There are lots of shooting modes and these include Time-Lapse, Panorama and Super night mode as well as Object tracking Light painting for different effects when capturing moving light such as car light trails. Video recording is at 4K so if you have a 4K TV you can enjoy your captured video clips in all their glory.
