The phone is made with a plastic chassis, although this does feel sturdy and durable. The 4.5-inch touchscreen display has a resolution of 480 x 854 which isn’t the best out there but is fine for web browsing, gaming or watching video clips.

The phone specification includes a 1.2GHz processor and 1GB RAM which won’t stand up against the flagship models out there but it performs well enough for everyday use. There is 4GB o memory on board and this can be bolstered with a 32GB microSD if you take lots of snaps.

The Huawei Ascend Y550 gives you the choice of a Simple UI or Emotion UI when setting up the phone. If you are just getting to grips with an Android phone then the Simple UI gives you an uncluttered screen with the most popular apps. Any experience Android users will go straight into the Emotion UI giving you access to the full Android KitKat experience.
