Google Announces Android 6.0, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5C

The latest event with Google has showcased the new Nexus phones and the latest OS. Google announces Android Marshmallow and the Nexus 5X and 6P giving us the final details to put all the rumours to bed.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow

The latest OS from Google delivers a whole range of new features and will be on the new Nexus phones.

Doze is a new feature to enhance the battery life of a phone as it will detect when a phone is not being used and put it into sleep mode. Calls, alarms and other notifications will still come through so you won’t miss anything.

Now on Tap opens up when the home button is tapped then held and launches shortcuts based on what is on the screen. An address will give a shortcut to maps so you can find your way there or if you are looking at a hotel or restaurant you will get a shortcut to review pages.

The battery life issue is further tackled with the App Standby feature that will restrict how regularly rarely used apps contact the network.

As Marshmallow will launch with the Nexus range there is a Nexus Imprint feature on board which has been designed to work with Android Pay and the fingerprint sensor on the back of the new phones. This will unlock apps, allow sign-in to the phone and can be used at checkout on Android Pay or for apps in the Play Store

Google Nexus 5X

The Nexus 5X is the more budget-friendly of the two newly released handsets and this version has been made by LG.
