The Google acquisition of Motorola Mobility has now been finalised after almost a year, with Google now owning the company and Motorola Mobility’s CEO stepping down and Dennis Woodside from Google taking the helm.
The deal has been rumbling on for almost twelve months as approval was needed from the European Union, US Department of Justice and the Chinese government. No with all the boxes ticked Google has become the new owner of Motorola Mobility.
Patents have become the currency of choice amongst tech companies and this new acquisition sees Google gain over 17,000 mobile patents from Motorola.
Right now Google has not commented on how they plan to run things but with many innovative things coming from their own patents such as Google Glass and driver-less vehicles it’s pretty exciting to see where they will take the mobile patents and Android in the future.
