When considering a smartwatch you may not immediately think of Casio, while they are well known in the traditional watch arena the smart watch game is relatively new to them.

The Casio Smartwatch has a round display measuring 1.32-inches with a resolution of 320 x 300 that is surrounded by a housing that does gives the phone an overall bulky look and feel -skinny wrists need not apply.

Although the watch looks bulky it is actually lightweight and it has been built to military standards for shocks, vibrations and water resistance up to 50 metres.

The Casio Smart Outdoor watch has some handy buttons on the side for launching key apps and Android Wear is on board making it suitable for use with lots of Android and iOS smartphones.

Casio has added some extra features that you don’t often see on smartphones with a compass, barometer and altimeter which back up its credentials as a gadget for lovers of the outdoors. There is a dedicated cycling mode which can keep track of your ride stats and a tide graph is accessible for any fans of surfing.

Verdict:

The additional outdoors features will certainly be tempting for hikers and adventurers but the bulky look and feel of this smartwatch won’t attract those looking for an attractive wearable so I can imagine the market for this one will be limited.
