As the year draws to a close Mobiles Please thought it would be nice to give the best phones of 2008 a round up - it has been a fantastic year in the mobile world with dual touch screens, GPS & amazing design taking centre stage it would be difficult to crown one handset. Sony Ericsson,the world number five handset maker has seen pre-tax profits fall so what is to blame? The brand is blaming demand for cheaper mobile phones and fluctuation in currency rates.

With the number of Sony Ericsson mobile phones sold fell from 25.9 to 25.7 million in the same period as last year. As mobile phones get cheaper and cheaper with retailers offering amazing deals with free gifts including laptops is this to blame?
It made a profit of 12 million euros (£9.3m; $16.2m) in the three months to 30 September which means with restructuring costs it has made a 23m euro loss.
It’s not just Sony Ericsson that are feeling the heat, Nokia the world’s largest mobile maker reported a 30% plunge in third-quarter profit after they lost shares due to competitors cutting prices.
