With a number of exciting new phones on the horizon, I take a look at a select few that are set to make a mark on the mobile world!
Sony Ericsson are continuing to expand their environmentally friendly GreenHeart range with their third QWERTY, Windows Mobile device – the Aspen. Sony Ericsson has described the new phone as “the business mobile phone with green credentials at its core” and it is certainly that; with the same user interface as the Xperia X1 and X2 and recycled materials used throughout the package.
The 2.4 inch touchscreen phone has the full package of connectivity options including WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and a 3.5mm audio jack. The QWERTY keyboard allows for fast messaging and viewing and editing Microsoft Office files is a breeze with one touch operation. Great for a business user ‘with a conscience’; the Aspen has a power saving mode, E-manual and an Eco mate application. There is also a decent media player, 3.2 megapixel camera and access to social networking sites for some fun out of the office! The interesting looking phone comes in Iconic Black and White Silver
The GreenHeart Aspen is set to be an affordable business phone when it released in the second quarter of 2010.
Sony Ericsson are carrying on their mission to save the world with their latest environmentally friendly phones – the Elm and the Hazel. The two ‘green’ phones are follow ups to the Green Heart C901 and the Naite which came with useful applications such as a greenhouse gas omission calculator and an e-manual. The two new handsets boast an impressive list of features including WiFi, GPS, Intelligent Volume Adaptation, Noise Shield and social networking integration.
Both the Elm and Hazel boast impressive 5 megapixel cameras, WiFi and GPS as well as social networking integration. Sony Ericsson have tried to make these handsets as green as possible with recycled plastics, e-manuals, low power consumption charger, green calculator, minimized packaging and Walk Mate eco application. The phones are also free from hazardous chemicals and use waterborne paint. Multimedia options are super on the two devices with MegaBass, SenseMe and TrackID but unfortunately Sony Ericsson have failed to include a 3.5mm audio jack in the mix.
The eco friendly phones will be available in the first quarter of 2010. If you can’t wait until then, mobilesplease.co.uk compares all the best mobile phone deals for the Sony Ericsson Naite with prices starting from as little as £9!

With mobile phone giants Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Nokia and LG battling it out to produce the best camera phones on the ever growing market. Samsung has announced the W880 AMOLED 12M that not only works like a professional camera, it looks like one too. This gem from Samsung is the world’s first phone to feature both a 12 megapixel camera and 3x optical zoom. The phone also boasts an impressive 3.3inch AMOLED WVGA touchscreen making viewing images a dream. With a dedicated camera power key, Mode dial and a real zoom lever it looks and feels more like a digital camera than a mobile phone, showing the evolution of mobile phones.
Samsung are allegedly set to change the name of the W880 to the Samsung M8920 but this has yet to be confirmed. For exceptional images the W880 is packed full of technological camera features including a Touch Auto-Focus feature that allows users to select a focus point with their finger where the lens will focus on and the Smart Auto feature changes its shooting mode based on lighting, background and the object it is shooting to capture beautiful images. There’s a Xenon flash, face recognition and shake reduction built in as well as 3x optical zoom to enhance the images further. There is also an excellent video recorder on board and the phone supports a microSD card to expand its memory up to 32GB.

Forget Blackberry’s and iPhones, these handsets will be your friend for life!
Sony Ericssson is doing their bit for the environment by launching two mobile phones made from old cd cases and water bottles. The handsets named the Green heart C901 and the Naite have been created in a bid to boos the brands awareness of its green values and approach a more environmentally friendly market.
The Greenheart C901 and the Naite both come complete with all the features you would expect from a top end Sony Ericsson mobile phone including a camera, WAP and Google maps.
So how are these phones actually made? They use at least 50% recycled plastic and the plastic is coloured using a friendly water based paint. Other greener benefits include the low power charges which come with these handsets and the onboard e-manual which reduces the need for more paper to produce a user manual. Other features on this phone include an application which allows users to calculate their greenhouse gas commissions when they walk compared to driving.
Sony Ericsson claim these changes will reduce the carbon footprint of the handsets by 15% and are expected to go on sale later this year.
