The Nokia X6 gets a new paintjob!

The popularity of the Nokia X6 keeps on growing with the introduction of this great phone in blue. Music is at the heart of the X6 and great sound quality is on offer through stereo speakers or your own headphones connected to the universal 3.5mm audio jack. In addition to the music/video player there is also a stereo FM radio with RDS.

The other area in which the Nokia X6 excels is in the camera department, Carl Zeiss optics give a quality feel to your pictures and auto-focus ensures blurry images are a thing of the past. The X6 also has the edge on its competition with a video recorder that captures images at 30 frames per second in either landscape or portrait views.

Nokia can’t be praised enough for the X6 as they have hit the nail on the head when it comes to offering users what they really want. The 8GB memory is very generous and the new blue colour scheme makes this one stand out in a crowd.

Monthly line rentals start from below £10 so to bag a great deal click here.

Incoming! Wi-Fi Everywhere!

Soon to hit our shelves is the Vodafone Huawei Mobile Wi-Fi device that remarkably generates your very own Wi-Fi hotspot wherever you are. The tiny device weighs 90g and measures 90x60x12mm and when turned on it can provide up to 5 users with a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet.

If you have found that a smartphone doesn’t quite give you enough, then the Mobile Wi-Fi solution gives you that same flexibility of connecting whilst on the go but now you can use a laptop, netbook or tablet to get the larger picture. The internal memory can be expanded with a 16GB MicroSD card and you can also swap files between connected devices.

The complications of getting your devices linked to the Mobile Wi-Fi simply don’t exist as there are no wires or software needed, simply turn on and use straight away. Thoughtfully Huawei have included both mains charger and USB charger for ease of replenishing the battery power.

You may note that we have brought you the Mi-Fi from 3 in the past but this latest model can now let you indulge yourself into Vodafone’ award-winning, dependable mobile broadband.

Blackberry ups the ante with the Curve 9300 and Torch 9800

This week Blackberry has officially announced two new handsets that are set to join their popular line up of business styled smartphones. The beauty of these two new gems is the inclusion of the new Blackberry 6 operating system and a range of entertaining apps that make these handsets well suited for those who only want one device that can cover work and play.

The Blackberry Curve 9300 – In the typical style of Blackberry phones we see a compact QWERTY keyboard nestled below the display and with the usual messaging formats including push email and Blackberry Messenger for instant messaging the keyboard should get plenty of use.

The Curve 9300 can also access Blackberry Application World for an almost endless choice of downloads to tailor the phone to your needs and the 3G connection ensures downloading is quick and painless. If your job requires venturing out of the office then you have the security of GPS and Blackberry Maps to help take the stress out of navigating Britains busy roads.

On the entertainment side, the Curve offers a media player that not only handles music and video but also allows you to sync the handset with the iTunes app. Entering the music playback mode transforms the Curve into a music player and dedicated control buttons ensure that navigation of your favourite playlist is straightforward.

The Blackberry Torch 9800 – This model takes on the form of a full touchscreen handset with the benefit of a slide-down QWERTY keyboard as a back up for when long messages need to be created quickly. Again we find 3G powering the newly improved Web browser that also supports HTML5 Web pages and access to Blackberry App World is still on offer.

A document editor takes control of email attachments with support for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files whilst staying up to date with your circle of friends is easy with social network feeds. Navigation issues have been covered again with Blackberry Maps and GPS.

The media player works hard on the Torch to offer up to 30 hours of music playback from one charge. The inclusion of a high-spec 5-megapixel camera makes this Blackberry an ideal choice for handling various work issues whilst providing all the entertainment needed when the working day is done.
Both handset will be hitting our shelves soon, and we are afraid to say that making a choice between these two models is going to be a difficult decision as they both have so much on offer.

Samsung Galaxy gets a boost.

The powerful Galaxy S already had a pretty impressive spec but Samsung have decided to add a few more features onto this super smartphone to make it a real contender in the smart phone world including a full QWERTY keyboard in the form of the Galaxy Q.

Obviously putting a QWERTY keyboard on the bottom of this phone means that the screen size has been decreased a bit from 4 inches to 3 but it is still a super AMOLED touch screen, displaying the phones features superbly. Other impressive features to that are expected to come out of the Galaxy Q include an 8 megapixel camera with HD video recorder as well as a 1.3 megapixel video call camera. So far so good!

Other than that the Galaxy Q is fairly similar to the Galaxy S, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing with a 1GHz Processor, TouchWiz interface, full Google package, 3G HSDPA, media player and WiFi.

For people who like QWERTY phones the Galaxy Q could be a real hit for Samsung. No news on a release date yet but we are expecting it to hit the shelve before Christmas.

Some positive iPhone News for Travellers

With all the bad press lingering around Apple at the moment we just spotted another cool app to remind us how handy they can actually be. Phones like Apples iPhone and the HTC Desire offer a great range of apps to help make life easier. Flight Tickets are constantly advancing their technology and the latest to appear is the British Airways app which lets users check in and board with their phones. A barcode is sent to the app which can be read by a scanner and used as a boarding pass to get you on board quickly.

When it is launched on Monday it will be available to Executive club users and will cut out paper tickets making it a much simpler process. The app also provides details such as check in times, flight updates and boarding gate information.

Chris Davies, head of digital marketing, said: ‘Mobility and convenience is key for our customers, so that no matter where they are, they can turn to their mobile phones to find the very latest information…The Mobile Boarding Pass feature for Executive Club iPhone users will be especially welcome for those customers unable to print off their own boarding cards when returning from overseas. We’re committed to putting our customers in charge, making the British Airways’ travel experience even easier.’

The app will be free for anyone in the Executive Club on Android, Blackberry and iPhone devices…who knows, one day you can just get your phone to go on holiday for you!

The Dell Streak makes an impression.

Formerly known as the Dell Mini 5, the Dell Streak is a superb 5 inch tablet that combines a mobile phone with a netbook; great for business users or people who love to stay entertained on the go.

With a huge 1GHz processor the Dell Streak will not let you down if you need to send an important email or access the internet on the move. Although it has a larger than average screen it is only 10mm deep making it super slim and compact.

So why do I need such a huge phone?

The large screen offers brilliant resolution of 800×480 pixels making video playback a dream not to mention browsing the web and social networking. There is a 5 megapixel camera with a host of other features to take pretty decent snaps and a secondary video call camera for handy conference calling from the device. iPhone 4 Available on Five networks!

That’s right everybody the iPhone 4 has arrived after months of rumours and a few unfortunate (for Apple) leaks.

Apple fans will obviously be dying to get their hands on the latest iPhone whether it is any good or not but looking at the specs we don’t think they will be too disappointed. The first thing you notice when looking at the new iPhone is its more structured design. This is mainly due to the flat glass front and back which is fully surrounded by a fancy stainless steel band that doubles as a pair of antennae to improve the signal for GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi. This new design is one of the thinnest smartphones on the market measuring just 9.3mm thick.  The screen size has remained the same but the resolution has been greatly improved to 960 x 640 pixels making it better than anything else around.

Other significant changes include the addition of a front facing camera for video calling using Apple’s own “FaceTime” technology which can also be used on the rear camera. This rear camera has predictably been upgraded to a 5 megapixel camera and now comes with a flash which can also be used with the HD video recorder which is a pretty decent improvement from the iPhone 3G.

Getting down to the nitty gritty, the new iPhone OS allows users to multitask and the interface has been tweeked a little to show off the high res display but it generally sticks to the winning formula of the original interface.  The processor has also been enhanced to the same standard as the iPad which will make multi tasking a pretty smooth experience. Battery life has also improved so hopefully there will be a few less complaints about that issue this time around! Other improvements have been made to the iBooks offering and the WiFi technology.

So what’s on offer? Well five networks are offering the iPhone 4 so there will be plenty of deals on offer. O2 have announced that it will offer its customers an early upgrade if they want the iPhone 4 but you will need to pay off the reminder of your contract (£20 a month) and get an iPhone 4 on a new 18 or 24-month one.

Motorola set to release the Flipout.

Motorola’s Flipout is the oddest looking Android handset to date, with a square touchscreen which flips out to reveal a five row QWERTY keyboard. Although it looks like the kind of social networking phone aimed at teenagers it is actually a very powerful smartphone device with a great user interface and superb range if features.

The 2.8 inch touchscreen displays Motorola’s MOTOBLUR service which can be customised with widgets to suit you and displays live updates from your friends on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter straight to your phone.

Being an Android smartphone means that the Flipout comes with a full range of Google apps including Maps, Gmail and Search and also has access to the Android Market to download a huge range of apps. The Flipout also includes a 3 megapixel camera which comes integrated with Kodak technology to capture more enhanced images, FM radio and digital compass as well as a decent web browser with Wi-Fi support.

Although it has an unusual shape which might take a bit of getting used to, the Flipout comes in an array of fab colours including Rebel Pink, Dark Sapphire, Fairway Green and Poppy Red and is sure to get people talking.

The Flipout is set to be released any time soon but if you simply can’t wait for an Android phone check out our smartphone section at www.mobilesplease.co.uk

The Desire also features an accelerometer, proximity sensor and scratch resistant coating to make it a truly desirable phone.

A fashionable alloy casing surrounds the super sharp 3.2 inch AMOLED touch screen which displays web pages and photos beautifully. The Legend fits comfortably in the hand and with the Sense user interface and multi-touch support it provides a fantastic user experience. The Legend may not be as high tech as the Desire but it certainly looks the part and is sure to make you stand out in a crowd.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Boasting an impressive 4 inch touchscreen with class-leading resolution the Xperia X10′s display is super sharp and vibrant making all the phones decent features shine. The HTC Wildfire is being unleashed!

HTC have today announced a budget Android phone – the Wildfire. The name certainly sounds exciting and looking at the specs it looks set to be a very popular smartphone device. Similar to the super cool Desire, the Wildfire runs on the Android 2.1 operating system and boasts the Sense user interface under the easy to use capacitive touchscreen.

Being the Desires little sister means the spec sheet isn’t as high tech but it does boast a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, a number of social networking applications and an optical trackpad for easy navigation around the phone. The Wildfire comes with 3G HSDPA support and Wi-Fi to browse the web from the 3.2 inch screen and also features a GPS receiver, Bluetooth, microSD card slot and 3.5mm audio jack.

HTC have had to make cuts somewhere to produce a budget phone which has unfortunately fallen on the QVGA display making Android a little bit less special (but what can you expect if you want a cheap Android device?).

The Wildfire will be available in four colours giving it more appeal for a younger market and should be available in Q3 this year. For all the best HTC phones, compare deals at Mobiles Please now.
