With so many new phones coming our way, many with impressive features and even more impressive hardware, which one will take the coveted crown of “best smartphone of 2012″.
The MWC allowed manufacturers to showcase some great new phones and with HTC revealing the One range and everyone getting a closer look at the Xperia S there were a number of handsets that could compete in the best of 2012 arena.
HTC One X
HTC are hoping to regain some of their previous success with the One X and with some stonking features and powerful hardware this could be the phone that gets them to the top of the pack. The Android OS delivers everything you need and the impressive quad-core processor ensures the phone is pretty nifty when multitasking. A standout feature of this phone is the 8-megapixel camera with a dedicated imaging chip. This chip allows you to edit movies and more impressively take still shots whilst recording video. The overall design and the fantastic 4.7-inch touchscreen make the HTC One X extremely attractive and all those features aren’t bad either.
Sony Xperia S
The Xperia S is the flagship phone designed to make Sony stand out since dropping the Ericsson brand and it certainly does its job well. The design is visually stunning and with finishing touches like the LED clear band at the base that changes colour depending on what is on the screen the Xperia S will certainly turn heads. Specs-wise the phone has a 4.3-inch LED backlit touchscreen, a high-spec 12.1-megapixel camera and a ton of connectivity features as well as 32GB of internal memory.
Samsung Galaxy S3
This phone is yet to be released but there is so much buzz around the successor to the Galaxy S2 that this is bound to jump right into the most popular phones of the year. So far specifications are just rumours so we can only guess what the phone will be like. The phone is expected to have a 4.6-inch AMOLED HD+ display with a quad-core processor under the hood and more than likely an 8-megapixel snapper.
Again this handset is not yet in the shops but as with the S3 there is so much anticipation for this phone, and with the devoted Apple fans chomping at the bit to get it, the iPhone 5 is bound to sell big numbers in 2012. We only have rumours to hint at what we could see on the latest iPhone such as a 4.6-inch display, an optimised camera and a quad-core processor so as with the S3 we will just have to wait and see.
Here we have picked what we think will be the standout contenders of this year, which phone do you think will come out on top? Is there a phone not in our list that you think deserves a mention?
