The iPhone 7 has been out for while now and with all the speculation that was rumbling around before the release we take a look to see it the phone delivered on expectations. In our iPhone 7 review we take a look at the impressive leaps Apple has made with their latest flagship.
iPhone 7 design
The latest iPhone 7 has been released in a new glossy black version which has been created using an anodisation and rotational polishing process for a mirror-like sheen. If shiny is not your thing there is also a matte black version added to the lineup.
The overall design has a more sleek minimal look thanks to the loss of the antenna stripes and the aluminium unibody includes a sculpted camera bump making the lines of the smartphone flow along, a great look.
iPhone 7 features
The iPhone 7 has a 4.7-inch Retina display that sees a 25% bump in brightness when compared to the previous model and the wider colour gamut delivers a cinematic experience.
Multi-touch and an LED back-light are included in the display features as well as IPS technology for a great view from wide angles.
The handset screen has an oleophobic coating to reduce smudges and this is the first iPhone to have IP67 certification making the iPhone 7 water and splash resistant.
The latest A10 Fusion processor under the hood delivers a performance that is 2x faster than the chip used in the iPhone 6 and it is even more efficient for excellent battery power.
The A10 chip is partnered up with the M10 co-processor giving the iPhone 7 a 3x faster graphics speed compared to the iPhone 6.
The iPhone 7 includes fingerprint security with the sensor being an upgraded 2nd generation device built-into the newly designed home button.
The latest iOS 10 is on board and the most notable improvement on this is Siri as further enhancements include the ability to voice type and give proactive suggestions.
The battery power on the iPhone 7 has also seen a bump with this phone offering up to 14 hours of talk time, 10 days of standby and up to 14hours of browsing over Wi-Fi.
Apple iPhone 7 Camera
The latest camera technology packed into the iPhone 7 sees a 12-megapixel lens with a f/1.8 aperture for capturing up to 50% more of the available light. The quad-LED True Tone flash ensures superior performance in low light conditions and it adjusts to the lighting within the shooting environment. The camera lens sits behind the scratch resistant sapphire crystal cover and includes Autofocus with Focus Pixels, Burst Mode, Live Photos and other shooting modes.
The camera performance is actually incredibly impressive and this is in part thanks to the image signal processor (ISP that is built into the new A10 Fusion chip. The ISP includes machine learning and powers more than a billion operations to deliver superb image quality.
Video can be captured at 4K quality at 30 frames per second and continuous autofocus and Optical Image Stabilisation ensure quality throughout the capture. Slo-mo video is included and captured videos can be edited using iMovie for sharing too.
The FaceTime camera is a 7-megapixel lens with Auto HDR and a Retina Flash along with video recording at 1080p.
Apple has really pulled out all the stops with this phone making a smartphone that is both beautiful to look at and great to use. The new glossy black is bound to appeal to many users so grab one before you miss out.
