“Always ON” Feature confirmed for the LG G5

The LG G5 is set to make its debut at the MWC this month but that hasn’t stopped the manufacturer teasing us with another snippet about their next smartphone. LG has confirmed that the LG G5 will have an “Always On” feature with an GIF on their Facebook page.

LG G5 Always On Never Asleep

The animated image on the LG Facebook page is captioned with “Never to asleep while others do. LG G5, Always ON”. The full details of the “Always On” feature are not revealed on the page however as it’s getting special mention we can only speculate it will be different to other smartphone manufacturers methods of showing notifications on a screen when in standby mode.

The latest handsets have varied ways of showing notifications when in sleep mode such as the Moto X and others which will pulsate the screen on briefly to give a visual indication of an incoming message or notification.

Perhaps this new feature will mean that the screen is never truly off and the notifications pop up on the blank screen as an overlay or certain information will always display whether the phone is in sleep mode or not – but we will have to wait until the final reveal at MWC 2016 to see if it’s anything to get excited about.

Screen notifications are certainly not the main focus for users when looking at their next smartphone so lets hope LG has some other big reveals to tempt users to buy the LG G5 smartphone.
