The Alcatel OneTouch Pop D3 is a budget mobile phone targeted largely towards the younger consumer. With Android KitKat and a vibrant colour range Alcatel OneTouch has certainly achieved its goal.
Pop D3 design
The selection of highly colourful shells combine with a 4-inch display to make a compact smartphone that is perfectly sized for the pocket or will take up minimal space in a bag. The Pop D3 feels secure in the hand thanks to its 12mm thickness yet at 114 grams you will hardly detect its weight.
On the inside the design includes a dual core processor rated at 1.3GHz. This is backed up by an internal 4GB memory that can be expanded upon with a memory card up to the value of 32GB.
Pop D3 camera
The Alcatel OneTouch Pop D3 has a 5 megapixel camera and this is exceptionally good for a phone in this pricing bracket. The built-in camera tools help to capture the best results possible and these include HDR, filters, night mode, panorama and a digital zoom.
Video calling is possible via a secondary forward-facing camera and it is also possible to record video at a resolution of 720p as well as scan QR codes for product information.
Pop D3 features
The Pop D3 has many features of which Skype will be one of the most welcomed. Access to the internet is possible with either Wi-Fi or 3G and the Android KitKat operating system allows you to access Google Play for new app downloads.
The Android OS includes plenty of tools from Google such as Google Search, Voice Search, YouTube, Gmail, Play Music and Play Magazine. The Alcatel OneTouch Pop D3 also has GPS for location based services and turn-by-turn navigation.
The battery provides a long standby time of up to 16 days and music lovers can play music for up to 3 hours off of one charge. A handy charging cradle is included in the box so this mobile phone can be set up much like a house phone.
Pop D3 verdict
At less than £50 on pay as you go the Alcatel OneTouch Pop D3 is a great buy that doesn’t cost the earth. The Android OS is a big bonus that delivers much of the same experience as seen on higher value phones so we do recommend this smartphone to the market of which it is intended.
