A Change In Seasons

As summer draws to an end and outside pursuits become impractical we all ask ourselves what’s going to keep us entertained on those long winter evenings? Well, with smartphones dominating the mobile phone market and an almost endless supply of applications available for download, the answer seems to be staring us in the face. So, what are the most popular phones? and equally important what do they offer in terms of downloadable content?

The HTC Desire, HTC Wildfire, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro all feature in our Top 10 Most Popular Phones List and have access to Googles Android Marketplace. The Android Marketplace has over 100,000 apps available with 57% of those being free to download (double that of its next rival the Apple App Store). Each month up to 10,000 additional new apps become available, making this the first choice of many of our customers.

The Apple iPhone 3GS also features in our Top 10 and connects to the Apple App Store for its downloadable content. Music downloads are available from iTunes whilst the Apple App Store offers up the choice of 250,000 different downloads. The most popular paid for download has been Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D whilst Facebook and Google Earth have headed up the free of charge side of things.

Next up is the Blackberry Bold 9700 and Curve 8520 that access the Blackberry App World where 26% of the downloads are free and up to 1,000,000 apps are downloaded each day.

The other platforms for downloadable content which do not feature in our Top 10 Phones List at the moment, include the Nokia Ovi Store and the Windows Phone Marketplace. Both of these are hugely popular so if the phone you have your eye on isn’t in our Top 10 at the moment, don’t fret, as these stores will leave you with no shortage of exciting apps to keep you entertained this winter.
